Altitude of Polaris as seen from geographic latitude ~42° N

The north celestial pole’s altitude is the observer’s latitude. Polaris is currently ~0.5° off the pole. At 42° N you see it near 42°.

What it supports

A coordinate tautology, printed honestly. The Book’s Polaris plate is a looking-lesson, not a miracle.

What it does not

Not a special property of Polaris. Not evidence that 42° is written on the sky independent of the observer.
