Method
The looking is the work.
Glance is a reading order. It is not a causal sequence.
Registers
Measured
Observed, named, or instrumented outside the chronicle.
Recorded
A text, catalogue, chapter or institution actually contains the number.
Calculated
A named operation on a named string. A stranger can reproduce it.
Lived
The number became meaningful inside a dated chronology. Memoir is noticing, not physics.
Open / miss
Approximate, bounded, playful, or failed. A corpus of only hits is weaker.
Laws
Calculation is not causation, and correspondence is not proof. A pattern is not destiny. Some correspondences hold and some fail, which is why the looking is the work. CIPHER is a door, not a hammer, and 42, 420, 4°20′ and 42° may share an inquiry without being the same object.
The test is not how many 42s can be found. The test is which 42s remain after we try to remove them. Embedded decimals, page numbers, unit-shopping, and Julian-date fragments do not count.
Two hard facts sitting near each other is still not a mechanism. The doubles live on Glance, with a stellar walk that is a reading order, not a cause.
Every object must pass two readers. A child should know where they are and why it mattered. A physicist should trust the chronology and the limits. Context without lecture. Rigor without deadness. Wonder without confusion. Kepler’s forty-two eyes is the standard. A label is not a story.
See one 42. Ask another question. That is the method. The English word NOMES reverse-ordinals to 69 and reverse-reduces to 24. The land count remains forty-two. Cipher counted later. Egypt holds the room.
Hanging
One sitting. One object.
- A primary URL that actually opens.
- One image or diagram that earns the number, or the number itself as the plate.
- Copy a child and a physicist can both read.
- Glance invited, or shelf only.
- A sentence for what it does not support.
Without those five, it is not hung.
