The 42 nomes
22 + 20
22 Upper Egyptian nomes + 20 Lower Egyptian nomes
Egypt is two lands. Later maps counted twenty-two districts up the Nile and twenty in the Delta. That is forty-two fields. Earlier maps used other numbers. The 42 sat down late.
The later map

Jeff Dahl. Nome divisions of the Two Lands. Twenty in the Delta, twenty-two up the Nile. North is Lower. The later 22 + 20 scheme, not the White Chapel’s earlier count. CC BY-SA.

Egypt
One land. Several 42s.
See one 42. Ask another question. Spell 125 does not print a map of the nomes. El-Kemaly 2021: the judges’ places mix towns with sky and cavern. The Dendera wall does join the later nomes to the body of Osiris. Clement’s forty-two books are a Greek report of a library, not a recovered Egyptian shelf. Cipher on the English word NOMES is later still. One land. Several rooms. One temple walk that actually names the join.
What it supports
A historical count in later pharaonic and Ptolemaic sacred geography: 22 Upper + 20 Lower = 42 sepat. Temple processions of that period fix the map there. Projet Rosette keeps the earlier numbers beside it: about 36, then 39, then about 40 real districts in demotic and Greek lists. The White Chapel of Senusret I does not yet print forty-two.
What it does not
Not an Old Kingdom invariant. Not a 1:1 origin of Maʽat’s 42 assessors. Spell 125 names mixed places, not a nome roster. The Dendera procession does join these later nomes to the body of Osiris. That is a different wall. The Index keeps the Hall, the map, and the body as three rooms.
Calculation
Reverse ordinal: N13+O12+M14+E22+S8 = 69. Reverse reduction: N4+O3+M5+E4+S8 = 24. The land count 22+20 remains 42.
English reverse ordinal (A=26). English reverse reduction. Cipher counted later. The 42 is the nomes, not the word.
Discovery order
Land count. Neighbor of Maʽat 42, not a duplicate and not a proof of one 42-system.
