A ridge on Eros prints at 42 degrees north in the gazetteer. Named for Arthur Robert Hinks, who used this asteroid to measure the Sun’s distance. The longing crater is next door, and is not this pin.

NASA / JPL / JHUAPL. PIA02913. The ridge at sunrise, 20 May 2000. Part of the long northern ridge later catalogued as Hinks Dorsum (informally Rahe Dorsum). Scene about 1.4 km across. The 42.00° is the gazetteer pin, not this frame’s width.

The gazetteer prints it that way. Feature 2513, Hinks Dorsum, a ridge on 433 Eros named for Arthur Robert Hinks, who used Eros for solar parallax. In the +West system the center longitude is 318.00°. The WKT easting is 42. Same pin, two writings. About eighteen kilometres of thrust, in the papers. Not Himeros. Not a cipher.

Longing. Soul. A ridge at 42°.

Craters on Eros are named for lovers. Psyche is the beloved, the soul. Himeros is the attendant, the longing of love. Narcissus is the reflection. Those names are IAU myth, 2003. HIMEROS reduces to 42 in English. That is a later spelling. Hinks Dorsum, a ridge named for an astronomer, prints center latitude 42.00° in the USGS gazetteer. Cipher is not the latitude. 16 Psyche is another world. Same potato-shaped rock. Several rooms.
